CATS Gets 4th Of July Spectators Close To The Action With Special Shuttle Service

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- On Friday, July 4, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will operate additional service to get July Fourth spectators close to the red, white and blue action. The July Fourth Shuttle will run from the LYNX Blue Line to an area near the fireworks display at Central Piedmont Community College."Center City will be crowded with people wanting to see fireworks and participate in all the July Fourth festivities and we want to make it easier for them to get around," said Larry Kopf, CATS' Chief Operations Planning Officer.The service will operate every 10 minutes from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. The shuttle will pick up on Trade Street at the Charlotte Transportation Center/Arena LYNX Blue Line station and drop off at Trade Street and Kings Drive. The reverse will be done on return trips.The fare to ride the shuttle is $1.30 each way. Individuals with a valid bus transfer / pass or LYNX Blue Line round-trip ticket can ride the shuttle for no additional charge.For more information about CATS and its services, visit ridetransit.org or call (704) 336-RIDE.
